Simple Spinach Dip Recipe
Dip (or dipping sauce) is a popular condiment around the world. Dips add flavor to food, whether it’s dumplings, pita bread, raw vegetables, crackers, cubed cheese or meat, tortilla chips, potato chips, seafood or falafel. Although a sauce, a dip is different from other sauces in that it is not applied onto the food; the food is put into the dip (hence the term).
There are many types of dips, but here’s a simple spinach dip recipe you’ll love.
| Ingredients: |
* 1 10-oz. package frozen chopped spinach
* 6 slices crumbled crisp bacon
* 1 8-oz. package cream cheese
* 1/2 cup mayonnaise
* 2 tbsp minced onions
* 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
* 2 tbsp lemon juice
* 1 loaf of bread (rye or pumpernickel), unsliced
* 1 tbsp dill weed (optional)
| Directions: |
Thaw spinach in microwave. Squeeze out water. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Hollow out the middle of the bread. Put aside chunks of bread. Place spinach dip in hollowed bread. Place chunks of bread or assorted crackers around the bread and serve.
The Perfect Dip
- For tortilla chips, use guacamole, a dip made from mashed avocados, chili peppers and onions. Or you can also use salsa, a dip made from tomatoes, onions, herbs and various chilis.
- For onion rings and French fries, use fry sauce, a dip that’s made by mixing mayonnaise and ketchup.
- For dumplings and fried noodles, use sweet and sour sauce as dip.
- For bread sticks, use marinara sauce as dip.
- For potato chips, use sour cream, either as is or mixed with mayonnaise.
