Chicken Pelau
Here is a basic recipe for chicken pelau.
| Ingredients: |
* 1/2 chicken chopped into cubes (seasoned)
* 2 cups rice
* finely chopped celery
* finely chopped onion
* garlic
* finely chopped carrot
* finely chopped chive
* 2 cans peas
* 1 pk coconut powder
* salt to taste
* 1 cube maggie
* 1/2 pot spoon sugar
* ketchup
* butter
* 1/2 cup oil
* 1 whole hot pepper
| Directions: |
Step 1: Place pot on fire when completely hot add oil. Allow oil to heat.
Step 2: Drop 2 pegs of garlic in oil and allow to burn, but not too much though. Add sugar and allow to melt. Stir constantly when pot begins to smoke add chicken, chive, celery, carrot, onion, and peas.
Step 3: Stir and allow to take colour. Leave covered to steam for 23 mins.
step 4: Add 2 cups of water and stir in rice cover and leave to steam for 20 mins.
Step 5: Uncover and allow to dry half way in pot then mix coconut powder in.
Step 6: Make sure rice is cooked. Leave uncovered. Add ketchup and butter to taste. Also add hot pepper. Lower stove and allow liquid in pot to dry down.
step 7: Leave to cool and enjoy.
